The 11 numbers cover a wide spectrum of styles, ranging from Texas shuffles to New Orleans rumba, slow blues, boogie woogie, swing shuffles and funky blues. The book also contains an extensive appendix on harmonic theory and the harp which illustrates how basic musical theory functions and explains how it relates to the diatonic harmonica, to give the student a solid musical grounding on the instrument.
These book/CD packages provide the intermediate player with high quality practising material in a variety of blues and blues-related styles. They cover a wide range of standard blues formats which the aspiring harpist is likely to encounter at sessions or when jamming with friends. They are also suitable as practise material for the advanced player. All pieces were specially composed for this project and recorded with a professional backing band. The CDs contain one full version of each title (with harp) and one playback version (without harp). The books offer transcriptions of all themes and endings plus chord charts - lead sheets for harp - and every tune is discussed in detail. Practising tips for each song are designed to help students master the tricky parts.
